Custom molded from each patient's dental impressions, the TAP is a small plastic device, similar to an orthodontic retainer, that is worn in the mouth during sleep. By adjusting the appliance to reposition the jaw, soft throat tissue is prevented from obstructing the airway, thus eliminating snoring and improving breathing. Not only does this provide the patient with restful, uninterupted, sleep, it allows their bed partner a quiet night as well. The TAP is inexpensive compared to other treatments, is easy to wear, and is custom designed to provide the patient with a comfortable fit.

What is Bruxism?

Bruxism is the habit of grinding your teeth while you sleep. Little is known about why we grind our teeth but we do know that it is quite common and very destructive. Bruxism can cause tooth mobility, periodontal disease, abfractions (a groove on the neck of the tooth next to the gum tissue), fractured teeth, Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction and muscle spasm of the muscles of mastication.
